My popcorn! My favorite ways to prepare, pop and eat popcorn. In some ways, popcorn is like bread. The one that I like, is that you can put anything on it. Peanut butter, chocolate, cheese and of course butter. My popcorn is normally covered in butter, has some salt, because i'm not a huge fan of salt, but some is good and if i have it, Velveeta cheese. Now, the reason i put Velveeta on my popcorn is because it melts fast, doesn't get real hard when cold and it's got a really nice cheesy flavor. Oh and you can buy it in bulk, or by the brick or whatever the technical term is. But just to show you how many ways you can have popcorn, I'll list some of my favorites, not necessarily in any order. Now, I like to have these things on my popcorn:
This is, believe it or not, a small list. I once received a box of gourmet popcorn. It had to have had at least 20 different flavors. I think one of my favorites was chocolate covered popcorn with either peanut butter or white chocolate. There may have also been toffee. Now most of these things are just normal every day household favorite things... to add to or put on food, not to eat by themselves, for the most part. However, I also like my popcorn to be cheap, so i don't put expensive things on the popcorn, because i am not selling it. This is why I stay away from chocolate popcorn.
Well like I said, I like my popcorn covered in cheese, I can go with or without butter and salt. So for the most part I'll either grab a bag or popcorn seeds out of the fridge and put it in the air popper or I'll take a pre-measured bag and stick it in the microwave. Note, I will never ever cover kettle corn popcorn for cheese covered popcorn. If i do go with buttered, i go for lightly buttered, or at least avoid extra butter and then pop it in the microwave.
Since I am not an only only child and to make sure all the popcorn I ate had melted cheese on it, I only made one bowl at a time. Now, just take a bowl, cut a few piece of velveta or whatever other low melting temperature cheese you have (make sure it melts fast! otherwise you will burn the popcorn. If you must have a slow melting cheese, you need to melt it separately or at least soften it. If you melt the cheese on the popcorn, via the microwave like I do, put some cheese in the middle and on top if you don't think it'll cover all the popcorn. I never stir my popcorn, since it kinda breaks easily. Keep an eye on the popcorn, even if it is a low temperature melting cheese. By the way, this may steam up the microwave. If it does, open with caution, and check on the popcorn. After it is all done, you should be good to eat it. be careful it may be hot. You may not like the way I make my popcorn, and that's fine, but hopefully you got a little inspiration.
